endings.....new beginnings?

Photo Cred:  www. lovelyprettyworld.blogspot.com

Yikes, where has the time gone?  Between teaching, planning, meetings, and conferences, the school year is almost half over.  I spent part of this year thinking and planning where I want this blogging thing to go.  I've also worked at honing my social media skills using Instagram and Pinterest.  More great things to come in 2014.  I'm moving slow but steady and am excited for the upcoming year!

Parent Teacher Conferences

In recent years, it seems parent teacher conferences have become a drag and a waste of time.  The only parents that participate regularly are those whose children are already getting A's.  The parents I really need to talk to, do not show.  But the post below changed my mind.  I will look at conferences in a much better light from now on.

Hump Day Casual

Dressing Down

The last two days have been spent with students at a leadership training.  The leadership training is fabulous for my business students, and I get some much needed collaboration time with other teachers.  But I'm tired.....the all day activities and the night time room checks have me in need of comfort to get through this Wednesday.  So this is what I think of.....super comfortable, yet professional enough for meetings and staff development.  Whats your go to comfy work wear?

Ahhh.....October, so glad you are here.  For me its a month of pumpkin spice lattes, walks in the woods to enjoy the color, parents weekend and my son's college, birthday month for me, a four-day weekend, and of course halloween.  So much to enjoy and capture before the snow cocoons us.

I'm also on the hunt for the perfect pair of boots....actually several pair of boots; both tall and short.  Any suggestions?

Mad For Plaid

Happy Monday!  This weekend sure felt like fall.  I still need to do my fall "closet switch", but I'm starting to get excited for tights and boots.  I love all the new fall colors so rich and luxurious.  What do you think of the fall plaid trend?  While part of me thinks of pleated skirts and safety pins, another part likes all the options that wearing plaid affords.  Pumpkin Spice latte, anyone?

My weekend will be filled with football games, soccer games, and hopefully a little shopping.  How about yours?  Have a good one!

Quotable Quotes - Time

unknown source

Such a crazy weekend filled with friends, fun, and lots of errands, I didn't get started on my work for school until Sunday night.  Need to work on my time management a little, no? Here's to a great week!!

Word of Wisdom

Did you see Ashton give his acceptance speech at the Teen Choice Awards? What did you think? I thought it was inspiring and well worth four minutes of your time to watch. I am thinking about showing it on the first day of school!

Food Truck Lunch

Last week I took the kids downtown for a food truck lunch.  As a family, we watch a lot of Food Network and the Cooking Channel and some of our favorite shows are about all the amazing food served from trucks.

We got downtown Minneapolis about 12:30 and scouted the Marquette Avenue for the right lunch.  It was crowded and chaotic, but loads of fun!  Having teens made it easy...I gave them all money and let them choose their own meal.  Then we found a clear nook in between two buildings and proceeded to eat, share, and laugh.  What a great day!
On the menu:
- Pork Tacos
- Philly cheese steak on a pretzel bun
- Chicken and potato empanadas
- Hot dog (I have one very picky eater...but it was from the Andrew Zimmern truck so I felt that was ok!)

Mid August, Already?

This summer has been crazy!!  Between graduation, grad parties, soccer, teen jobs, and preparing to send my oldest off to college, I can't believe the summer is drawing to a close.  While I'm always excited to dig into a new school year full of creativity and innovation, I will miss waking up just a little later and enjoying my coffee on the deck, and a schedule that is not controlled by ringing school bells.

Woodbury Lakes......Woodbury, MN

Yesterday, I had a chance to escape for a couple of hours of window shopping at our local mall.  I didn't find anything I couldn't live without, but am excited about the possibilities of the collections at Banana Republic, Express, and Gap.  We'll see.....what fall trends are you looking forward to?

and so she did

This is the second time I'm starting this blogging journey.  Hopefully I can get beyond one introductory post!  I still have some technical glitches to work out and a custom domain to set up, but there will be more to come soon...I promise!
